Nestled in between Phoenix and Paradise Valley the recent renovation of this home built in the 1970’s provides an opportunity for genuine indoor/outdoor living. The landscape architect collaborated with the client to create a hardscape and landscape design that captures outdoor living, as well as a singular view of Camelback Mountain, the region’s prominent landmark, from various vantage points within the house and site. The owners desired a landscape that would enhance outdoor living and provide an extension of the interior living spaces whilst embracing fluidity of movement and continuity of space between interiors and exteriors of their home. They entertain frequently and utilize the exterior spaces for outdoor dining and lounging. The client also desired a garden that was reflective of the desert, yet lush, and easy to maintain.

The hardscape design consists of clean, simple geometries complementing the architecture. Layers of cacti, cycads, and succulents were composed, creating galleries in the landscape.
