MESA CITY CENTER
The Plaza at Mesa City Center is the initial step in the design and development of a world-class public destination where both locals and tourists will want to return again and again, capturing and enhancing the urbanizing impetus of Mesa’s downtown core. Elemental components of the project include iconic and flexible open space, an interactive water feature and ice rink, establishing and strengthening connectivity between neighborhoods, downtown businesses, cultural and art centers, and the convention center, and space activation, ultimately becoming a catalyst for economic development. A large central sloped lawn is angled towards the Mix Center’s giant outdoor screen for community movies. During the holidays, the plaza transforms into a seasonal ice rink, offering over 5,000 sf of ice surface and colorful interactive lighting and sound system.
