gilbert hearne plaza
This project transforms a cul-de-sac street in the historic district of downtown Gilbert into a shady, vibrant, pedestrian and bicycle-oriented zone in the heart of the town with enhanced social spaces. The landscape and hardscape contiguous to the pedestrian spine will offer flexible, non-programmed outdoor space for events and everyday use. The bold paving pattern features sandblasted cotton bolls into Bomanite, and is representative of Gilbert’s historic importance in growing cotton, one of Arizona’s 5 C’s. The halo lighting above Hearne Plaza further enhances the street for festival use. Other amenities include moveable chairs and tables, bike racks, bike lanes, valet parking and benches.
