The Chandler Museum includes the renovation of the historic 3,300-square-foot McCullough-Price House and the development of a new 11,000 sq. ft museum on the same property. The historic McCullough-Price House is a 1938 pueblo revival home that is on the National Register of Historic Places. The renovation of the historic home and the new museum design was reviewed with Arizona State Historic Preservation Office (SHPO) for input and approval.
The construction of the new building and gardens will enable Chandler Museum to become a cultural destination with engaging, community-focused programs and forums, as well as world-class traveling exhibits. Iconic Saguaros were salvaged from the site and reestablished along the front elevation of the new building. Paving imprints included the Ostrich feather rug, located in the outdoor living room, reminiscent of Chandler’s prominence in the production of Ostrich feathers. Other amenities include the sunken lawn for school groups and the oval lawn in the historic courtyard.
